RKR Certified Wireless Associate
RF fundamentals to Wi-Fi 6E on cloud-managed Aruba-class WLANs. Lab-first. Verifiable. Comparable to Aruba ACMA + CWNP CWNA.
The blueprint
A 10-week, 14-lab program that builds a complete associate wireless engineer: dB math and link budgets an RF veteran would sign off on; packet-level fluency in 802.11 through Wi-Fi 6/6E including India's delicensed 6 GHz band; end-to-end deployment skill on Aruba Central/AOS-10-class cloud management; WPA3 and 802.1X security done correctly; predictive design plus validation survey method; and a troubleshooting framework proven in a timed fault-injection gauntlet. Every module ends in a graded lab; certification requires a proctored theory exam plus a 3-hour hands-on practical scored against a published rubric.
Skill domains
5 assessed domainsRF and Spectrum Science
- dB math, EIRP and link budgets computed by hand
- FSPL, Fresnel zones, SNR thresholds for high MCS
- Antenna selection and India WPC 2.4/5/6 GHz rules
802.11 Protocol Mastery
- OFDMA, MU-MIMO, MCS table and channel bonding to 160 MHz
- Full frame-exchange autopsy: probe → auth → assoc → 4-way handshake
- 6 GHz discovery: PSC channels and Reduced Neighbor Reports
Cloud-Managed WLAN Operations
- Zero-touch AP provisioning into Central-class consoles
- Group/site hierarchy, templates, firmware compliance
- AirMatch/ClientMatch behaviour and on-box CLI verification
Security and Access
- WPA3-SAE, Enhanced Open, MPSK for IoT device classes
- WPA3-Enterprise: 802.1X, EAP-PEAP/EAP-TLS, RADIUS roles
- Captive portals, walled gardens, rogue AP classification
Design, Survey and Troubleshooting
- Coverage vs capacity design to -65 dBm primary targets
- Predictive modeling plus AP-on-a-stick and validation surveys
- Seven-stage client-journey fault isolation with capture evidence
Signature labs
Rack time, not watch time802.11 Frame Autopsy — annotate a complete client join, byte by byte, in Wireshark monitor mode
Zero-Touch Site Bring-Up — factory-default APs to monitored, firmware-compliant site
WPA3-Enterprise with RADIUS — build, capture, break and fix a full 802.1X/EAP flow
Four-SSID Campus Build — corporate, IoT, guest and voice with correct VLANs and roaming (802.11k/v/r) validated at <150 ms
Predictive Design Studio — 2,500 m² office designed to spec with heatmaps and channel plan
Fault-Injection Gauntlet — six timed break/fix scenarios, each closed with a documented root cause
How you are examined
Stage 1: 90-min proctored theory, 65 scenario items, 70% pass. Stage 2: 3-hour graded practical in a live pod — greenfield site build, three-SSID security stack, annotated handshake capture, two injected faults fixed with root-cause notes; rubric-scored (40% config, 30% verification evidence, 30% troubleshooting), 75% pass, scores visible at the badge verification URL.
